So I spent a good chunk of time writing the ALife thing for the header. Spent another good chunk of time doing the layout for the site... And now that it's here? I'm not sure I like it.
Oh, it's ok, and probably better than it was, but now it... I don't know. It feels totally out of proportion, with way too much space being taken up by something that is ultimately eye-candy and a geek's in-joke. And, of course, I still haven't added the bit of JS to the site to allow MSIE to get the alife stuff working, so it only works on Firefox. And, to boot, because I'm using text shadows, the right-hand nav headings only truly look as they should on Safari. Basically, I've broken every single rule I ever knew about web design, and I'm thinking I'm a boob for doing so. But hey, that's life, right? :)
In other news, I'm still waiting to see what Google has to say about that round of interviews - so I'm in unemployment limbo at the moment. Not an awful place to be; getting a chance to do lots of stuff I never got around to, all of which ought to get reviewed... the DS browser, Chibi-Robo, Beyond Good and Evil, etc.
And a top secret project, which I hope to unveil real soon now.

Hey Greg,
Hehe, I can tell that you are sitting at home bored. You hadn't really done anything on CTOforaday for a long time and now you suddenly spend time working on it again. If you don't know what to do I can recommend a good movie. Go and see 'Das Parfum' and you should definitely read the book too. Absolutely worth it! Keeping my fingers crossed for you regarding the interviews at Google.
Bis dann,
Thomas

Me too. I'm so desperate to hear I could cry. :) The process is what it is, though - they meet on Fridays, and so I have to wait. :)
As for the site... Well, it needed doing. And to be honest, I've reached the far edge of my ability to sit around on my ass doing nothing.
So I've got a few projects. This site, for starters. And I've suddenly discovered the wonders of last.fm -it's a shame about the client. To be honest, I'm suddenly thinking to myself "Hmm. Here's a nice company to go and work for" - in east London, to boot. And from using their client for the last couple of days, it looks like they could use my help. :)
And my top secret project. I started properly the day before yesterday - drop me a private e-mail on it, and I'll fill you in - I could use your advice as a fellow Warcraft player as to what you think might be interesting. :)
And how's that licensing battle coming along? I'm still interested in getting a look at your ajax tools - it might be a very, very good fit for this top secret project.
Tschüß,
Greg
